====== Zenodo DOI ======
[[https://about.zenodo.org/|Zenodo]] is a service to create citations (as Digital Object Identifiers) for software, data, and other artifacts.
> CERN, an OpenAIRE partner and pioneer in open source, open access and open data, provided this capability [Open Data policy/catch-all repository] and Zenodo was launched in May 2013.
===== Creating a DOI for a github repo =====
Zenodo can sync with [[:tools:github|Github]].
See https://coderefinery.github.io/github-without-command-line/doi/
Briefly
- on zenodo
- initiate connection with github
- enable the github repo on zenodo
- on github
- create a release
- back on zenodo
- resync/refresh github connections page
- copy generated DOI to readme, manuscript, etc
Tutorial instructions use ''**sandbox**.zenodo.org''. When you're comfortable and want the real DOI, remove sandbox from the url.
Github releases can be deleted and recreated to initiate DOI (re)generation on the zenodo side
